Derek Armstrong is the Laboratory Consultant for FEND. Currently, he is a Research Manager at Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine in the Department of Pathology.

Derek is a trained mycobacteriologist and has led efforts in laboratory management and coordination of TB diagnostic and therapeutic trials for the past 12 years, including initial assessments of GeneXpert Ultra, XDR and BDMAX. He has led quality management and monitoring efforts for international TB trial consortia and assisted with efforts in laboratory capacity building and training around the globe.
